En México, los ciudadanos eligieron por medio del voto a jueces, ministros de la Suprema Corte y magistrados de todo el país. Según el Instituto Nacional Electoral, la elección tuvo una participación de entre el 12,57 % y el 13,32 %. En entrevista en Aristegui, la abogada y comisionada en la Comisión Internacional de Juristas, Catalina Botero, habló sobre esta elección y sus posibles repercusiones para la democracia del país.
